Herbs for Cancer
Herbal Medicine has been practiced for centuries in China, India, Egypt and North America.
They are potent medicines and should be used under the care of a practitioner as dosages can vary based on a person's constitution and needs. When I work with clients, each herbal formulae and suggestions are tailored individually.
There are so many incredibly powerful herbs that can be incorporated into a cancer healing program. Here is just a small sample and some of my top selection.
Turmeric- anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, boosts the immune system, reduces pain. curcumin may prevent cancer, slow the spread of cancer, make chemotherapy more effective and protect healthy cells from damage by radiation therapy.
Essiac tea- A Native American herbal blend of: Slippery Elm, Burdock Root, Sheep Sorrel and Turkish Rhubarb Root. These herbs help destroy overgrowth of bad bacteria, viruses and parasites, while detoxifying the colon, liver and kidneys.
Benefits of Essiac tea: Strengthens the immune system, Detoxifies the body, Purifies the blood, Protects organs, Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory
Cannabis- Topic of much controversy. In actuality, cannabis has been used for centuries to alleviate a plethora of conditions. In tincture format, it was one of the most commonly used “drugs” in the 1800’s and early 1900’s in America until it was made illegal. There is a huge resurgence with medical cannabis and for good reason. Cannabis offers massive benefits to cancer patients: potent anti-inflammatory. Neuropathy and pain control. It can minimize nausea and vomiting, stimulates appetite, treat insomnia and can help manage anxiety and depression. Above all that, it has anti-cancer effects. THC and CBD hold unique healing properties, but reach their full potential when combined together and with other compounds in the cannabis plant — also known as the “entourage effect.” Again, it is best to work with a knowledgeable practitioner.
Wormwood- an herb that comes from a plant called Artemisia, or wormwood. Its anti-cancer effects include the ability to disable cancer cells by reacting with the iron inside of them that helps them to grow. It also triggers free radical production which destroys the cancer cell membrane, and the cancer cell. It has been proven to kill cancers that have been resistant to chemotherapy. Artemisinin oxygenates the body, and is commonly used to fight pathogens such as fungi and parasites.
Mushrooms- Another one of my top recommendations! Medicinal mushrooms are powerhouses for enhancing and modulating the immune system. There are so many wonderfully potent varieties to choose from. The most well researched and known cancer fighters include Reishi, mitake, chaga and shitake. According to David Wolfe, Chaga is the #1 anticancer herb in the world. Chaga is extremely rich in antioxidants, which protects DNA material. So if you are seeking for something that fights cancer, boosts your immune system, and reduces inflammation, then look no further!
Herbs in the kitchen- there are so many powerful herbs that you can find in your kitchen, that can be used to fight cancer, bolster the immune system, promote digestion and add flavour and pizazz to your meals. Add to soups, salads, stews, even smoothies and juices, depending on the desired taste.
